according to Matthew 6:28

And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin.

Selon Matthieu 6 : 28

Et pourquoi êtes-vous en souci du vêtement? apprenez comment croissent les lis des champs; ils ne travaillent, ni ne filent.

derived from Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

dérivé du psaume 23

L'Eternel est mon berger: je ne manque de rien.
Il me fait reposer dans de verts pâturages,
il me dirige près des eaux paisibles.
il restaure mon âme,
il me conduit dans les sentiers de la vie juste,
à cause de son nom.
Quand je marche dans la vallée de l'ombre de la mort,
je ne crains aucun mal, car tu es avec moi :
ta houlette et ton bâton me rassurent.
Tu dresses devant moi une table,
en face de mes adversaires;
tu oins d'huile ma tête,
et ma coupe déborde.
Oui, le bonheur et la grâce m'accompagnent
tous les jours de ma vie,
et je reviendrai, j'habiterai dans la maison de l'Eternel
jusqu'à la fin de mes jours.

English:

* Okami is the Japanese word for “wolf” and the kanji character appears right above the photo here.

Astroku 20 – how the harpist plays = que la harpiste joue

English:

how the harpist plays
on harmonic strings
her cosmic ballad

français :

que la harpiste joue
des cordes harmoniques
sa ballade cosmique

italiano:

Corsican:

Catalan:

portuguêse:

sua balada cósmica

Basque:

harpistak jotzen du
kate harmonikoetan
bere balada kosmikoa

Deutsch:

Der Harfenist spielt
auf harmonischen Saiten
ihre kosmische Ballade

ancient languages:

Latin:

lyrae plectra
percutiuntur astrorum
carmina

translation:

the lyre's astral strings
are plucked
the astral songs

literally:

the lyre's strings of the stars
are plucked
the songs of the stars

The Latin is extremely subtle, insofar as the “astrorum” modifies both “plectra” and “carmina”, both of which are neuter. So the genitive plural “astrorum”. A compound modifier is a compound of two or more attributive words: that is, two or more words that collectively modify a noun or nouns.

Hittite:

arkamijalaš
shmauš siunesan asiuran
hasteraš ishamaiz

translation:

the musician plays
the song of the love of the gods
for the stars

If you speak or can read Italian or Portuguese, pronounce this astroku in Hittite as you would pronounce those languages, though the Portuguese bears a closer resemblance.

Astroku 12 – bubble nebula = nébuleuse de la bulle

italiano:

Hittite:

takku alpaš essi
takku kardiš essi
takku kardiš esmi

literal translation:

if you are my cloud
if you are my heart
if I am your heart

NOTICE the transparent connection with the Hittite verb “es” = to be
with Latin “esse”, the French “être”, the italian “essere”, Spanish
& Portuguese “estar”, and I could go on and on. Not only that, the
third person singular of the English verb “to be” is “is” and the
German third person singular is “ist”! Astonishing eh? What this
all means is that all of the aforementioned Latin and modern
language verbs for “to be” are merely dialects of the original
ancient Indo-European Hittite “es”! Hittite is the oldest Indo-
European language dating from 3,500 BCE, i.e. 5,500 years ago!
So there is nothing new under the sun!

And what about the Hittite word for “heart” = kardiš. Sound
familiar? You bet! French = “le coeur”, Italian = “cuore”,
Corsican “core”, Spanish = “corazon”, Portuguese = “coração”.
I needn't belabour the point. Once again, all of the aforementioned
modern Romance language nouns for Hittite “ kardiš” are merely
dialects of the original ancient Indo-European Hittite. Hittite
is the oldest Indo-European language dating from 3,500 BCE,
i.e. 5,500 years ago! So there is nothing new under the sun!

Mayan poetry translated into English, French, Latin and Hittite = poésie mayanne traduite en français, latin et hittite

a special post to honour Daniel de França's beautiful contribution/
un poste spécial en l'honneur de la belle contribution de Daniel de França...

original Mayan poem in Mayan and Spanish:

Matthew 7:7 (New Testament):

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

English

You will go to school.
You will not be empty-headed.
You will cross the threshold of your imagination
going all the way into your own house
without having to knock on the door.

français :

Vous irez à l'école.
Vous ne serez pas écervelé.
Vous franchirez le seuil de ton imagination
et vous irez jusqu'au bout et vous entrerez chez toi
sans même devoir frapper à la porte.

Spanish:

See the Mayan poem above, followed by it in Spanish and then in English.

Latin:

Scholae operam dabitis.
Non eritis ineptus.
Ingrediemini domum cogitationis
et ibitis procul et in domum tuum intrabitis
neque ostium pulsare debebitis.

Translation:

You will devote your work to school.
You will not be empty-headed.
You will enter the home of your imagination
and you will go all the way and you will enter your home
and you will not have to knock on the door.

Hittite (3,500 BCE):

Hatrai istamasteni.
Httatan harteni.
Teshus istamasteni.
Appezziyan tarhuteni appezziyan paitteni parnant
appezziyan askan siyateni.

Literally:

You will learn to count.
You will have wisdom.
You will learn your dreams.
Afterwards you will win (and) afterwards you will go to your house
afterwards you will open the door.

NOTES:
1. There is no future tense in Hittite. So the text actually reads:

You learn to count.
You have wisdom.
You learn your dreams.
Afterwards you win (and) afterwards you go to your house
afterwards you open the door.

2. The Hittites never focused on stupidity, which they believed was beneath them, but instead honoured wisdom.

3. There was no word for “imagination”. The Hittites learned from their dreams, which they considered sacred.

4. Once again, the Hittites did not focus on obligation, but instead described positively what they meant. So to them it meant so little to have to knock on the door when all you had to do was to open it.

senryu – if your love is you = si tu es l'amour = se l'amore sei tu

New Testament:
Corinthians 1.13.2: If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom
all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have faith to move
mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

if your love is you
do you know who you are?
all the universe

français :

si tu es l'amour
sais-tu qui tu es ?
tout l'univers

italiano:

se l'amore sei tu
sai chi sei?
l'universo

español:

si el amor eres tu
¿sabes quién eres?
el universo

Deutsch:

wenn du die Liebe bist
Weißt du wer du bist?
das Weltall

Romanian:

daca iubirea esti tu
stii cine esti?
universul

Latin:

si es amor
scis qui sit?
universum

Hittite

takku essi asiur
sak kuis essi?
dapes hasteres

literally:

if you are love
do you know who you are?
all the stars

Hittite, the earliest Indo-European language, was so ancient (ca. 3,500 BCE) that it had no word for “universe”, which makes perfect sense. I am learning Hittite. I started a month ago, and I am learning fast. Unlike most adults, who claim learning a foreign language is hard, I learn languages like a child. Even if you cannot understand the words, if you speak or read Italian, pronounce Hittite the same way, like this:

se l'amore sei tu
sai chi sei?
l'universo
