The Blue Mosque

The Blue Mosque

The Blue Mosque Istanbul 620

In Istanbul, the Blue Mosque, Allah’s shrine
of Holy shrines, invokes his Love for all
who visit her but once, His holy sign
for every faith, to those who heed the call;
Yes, raise your eyes on high, and view her vaults
and Carian columns so fairly nuanced
you’ll fall on your knees... where?... in Allah’s sight,
whose Mind is in our humblest minds ensconced.
And if you sense that Jesus too is there
and Moses from the Mountain has returned,
how can the world ignore your every prayer,
how can we fail if love is never spurned?
Religions of the world must reunite
since this, our holy shrine, reveals the Light.

I was profoundly blessed when I had the great good fortune to visit the Blue Mosque, Istanbul, on April 29 2012. Never in my entire life have I ever ever seen a religious shrine as lovely as this. I was utterly overwhelmed by its sheer glory. If you ever get the chance to visit the Blue Mosque, you should not pass it by. You will be so deeply moved and graced by it that you will never regret for an instant your having visited it.

The photo you see here is my own.

Translation of Linear B tablet, KN 581a R ? 03, Knossos, by Rita Roberts:

KN 581 a R 03

Translation of Linear B tablet, KN 586 Rm 11, Knossos, by Rita Roberts:

KN 586 M m 11

This is far from being a straightforward tablet to decipher. It presents at least 3 difficulties:

1. the presence of the relatively rare logogram RIYO (see the tablet above) in the putative personal name ARIYOA.
2. the presence of digamma (#) twice in the name on line 2, which could be either the putative personal name, KOWOWEYA or RUWOWEYA, depending on how one is able to decipher the first left-truncated syllabogram on that line, which could be either KO or RU.
3. the presence of what appears to be the rare syllabogram JU at the end of the second line, but we cannot even be sure of that.

The tablet is damaged enough to raise the questions in 2. and 3. above.

Richard Vallance

In 1370 B.C., the volcano at Thera erupted in a massive explosion, and even though it was far away from Knossos, it set off an earthquake which utterly destroyed the city.

En 1370 av. J.-C., le volcan à Théra a éclaté dans une explosion massive. En dépit de la grande distance entre Théra et Knossos, le volcan a déclenché un tremblement de terre qui a entièrement détruit la ville.

On 24 August AD 79, the volcano Mount Vesuvius burst out in a massive explosion which completely buried the city of Pompeii in ashes. At first, lava rained down the city, followed by an ash storm with massive lightning which killed almost everyone in the city. It is one of the worst natural disasters in all of history.

No Isis, a sonnet lambasting the disgusting ISIS movement!

No Isis 620

No Isis, a sonnet lambasting the disgusting ISIS movement! The radical ISIS movement is an appalling insult to the hallowed memory of the great immortal Egyptian gods, Isis and Osiris! I make no apologies whatsoever for writing this scathing sonnet, because, no matter what the religion, Christianity, Islam or any other religion, fundamentalists are a scourge on the eternal Love of Almighty God.
